[Parent post: "Window sill stain"] Anybody know where this stain came from? I don’t think I have a leak but occasionally can these yellowish brown stains on the window sill. --- Could be condensation buildup that's been sitting there and dried out, especially if you get temperature swings. I've seen this happen when moisture gets trapped in those little grooves and channels in the sill - doesn't take much for it to start discoloring the paint or caulk over time. Check if your window seal is actually tight because even small gaps can let humid air in that condenses when it hits cooler surfaces. Also worth looking at the caulking around the frame since old or cracked caulk can trap moisture and start breaking down. Quick test would be to wipe it down with some mild cleaner and see if it comes back after a few weeks.
