Edited: to clarify questions I’m totally overwhelmed by this entire healthcare system. Can someone explain this to me like I’m five and tell me what to do? I’ve never really had expensive prescriptions before (and I am very grateful for that). I don’t understand what the deal is with evouchers, savings cards and coupons. Insurance/pricing context: (I understand this) •My deductible is not yet met (though will be after next months prescription, claims insurance). •This medication is “covered by insurance” but I’m still responsible for about $1000 until deductible is reached according to the insurance when I called. What I don’t understand: •When I picked up my first month, Walgreens only charged me $24.99 •Second month refill, Walgreens is charging me $850. •I called Walgreens and they said that the first month an “evoucher” probably took care of that first month’s cost, and they applied the evoucher to this month and it only took off ~$150. WHATS AN EVOUCHER?? •I went onto the Lilly website and signed up for their savings card. I called Walgreens back to tell them about my savings card and when they punched it in they said it was “already used”. How?? I signed up for that savings card 5 minutes before I called them back. The savings card claims it was valid for a dozen or so refills (unless I read that wrong). What’s the savings card going to do for me? And did I do something wrong when signing up- why is it not working for the pharmacist? •Walgreens’ app had a “prescription coupon search” and I found some that would apparently take my cost down to closer to $500 from “hippo” or “single care”. What are these? Can I use them alongside the evoucher and/or savings card? What are these companies offering them? TLDR: these are ultimately my questions. I understand the insurance side but not the pharmacy/prescription side. Where does an evoucher come from and what is it? Is it different than the savings card and if so why didn’t my savings card work even though I opened it 5 mins before calling?? What are these coupons floating around on the Walgreens website- they’re not from Walgreens nor Lilly so can I still use them?? What’s their deal?? Thank you in advance to whatever kind soul can explain this to me!
