Acer Nitro ANV15-41 suddenly stopped detecting battery after update/restart – BIOS shows Battery N/A
Post
Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice regarding a strange battery issue on my Acer Nitro ANV15-41 (Ryzen 7 7735HS). A few days ago, my laptop was working completely normally on battery. According to the Windows battery report, it was running on battery power and the charge dropped from around 80% to 67% normally. After that point, the laptop suddenly stopped detecting the battery. Current symptoms: Windows shows 100% battery, but the laptop shuts down instantly if I unplug the charger. BIOS shows "Battery: N/A". wmic path Win32_Battery get Name,BatteryStatus returns "No Instance(s) Available". powercfg /batteryreport says "No batteries are currently installed". The laptop only works when connected to AC power. No battery is detected in BIOS or Windows. What happened before the issue: The problem appeared around the time Windows was installing updates/restarting. I cannot say with 100% certainty that the update caused it, but the timing matches. Before that, the battery was functioning normally. Troubleshooting already done: Performed a full shutdown using: shutdown /s /f /t 0 Entered BIOS and loaded default settings. Saved BIOS defaults and rebooted. Checked BIOS battery status (still shows Battery: N/A). Generated Windows battery report. Ran: powercfg /a Checked Task Manager and fixed some unrelated Windows tray icon issues. Windows updates completed successfully. Battery report still says no battery installed. BIOS still cannot detect the battery. Additional information: Laptop is out of warranty. Battery is internal (non-removable). Bottom cover has never been opened. No swelling, overheating, burning smell, or physical damage. Laptop works perfectly on charger power. My questions: Does this sound like a failed battery/BMS? Could this be a loose battery connector even though the laptop was never opened? Has anyone seen a BIOS showing "Battery: N/A" and recovered it without replacing the battery? Is there anything else I should test before visiting an Acer service center? Any advice would be appreciated.
