On a scale of 1-10, how crappy of a job is this

Post

The framing and decking under our current deck were intact and showed no signs of significant aging, so we elected to have the covered area prepped to be screened and replaced our stairs as they were beginning to show some signs of wear and tear. I’ve reached out to multiple contractors since February of this year and could never get anyone to follow up on the call to even come give us a quote. A friend who’s a home builder said he could send his deck/framing guys out to do the job for us. They began the job on Monday and finished on Friday. I was away for the week and didn’t get a good chance to look at the finished product until yesterday and I was very underwhelmed. I’m going to call the contractor tomorrow and have him come look at the job to see what he can do to make this right. I haven’t paid him a dime yet, the job was quoted at $9500 and I don’t think this work is anywhere near that price point. The window area above the door going downstairs was untouched and is 1/2” lower on the left than the right side. The picture of the new door added against the house is for reference. The area just to the left of the door facing the pond is 1.25” wider at the top than the bottom, several of the 2x2’s aren’t flush, hog wire unevenly cut, and the railings on the open/grill area aren’t attached to the house or railing on the covered porch. They’re simply attached to the bottom 2x6’s with 2x4’s

Summary

The post is about a poorly executed deck/porch project and contractor dispute, with only a minor mention of a window area as part of the structure.

Reasoning

This is not a window replacement or window comparison post; the author is focused on deck framing, stairs, railings, and workmanship quality. The only window-related mention is incidental and does not indicate active window repair or replacement intent.
