I'm gonna keep it short and sweet: I'm following recipes from YouTube/tiktok and other sources on the Internet to get some nice low calorie, high protein food on the table without having to bust a blood vessel trying to figure out what to eat and how much to add. On top of this, I use MyFitnessPal to track the calories in my food, mostly so I can scan the barcodes of the things I put in. It helps me see the correct macros instead of just guessing and praying. Now here's the issue: My MFP recipes often, if not always, are 50-100 kcal per serving higher than the recipes I find. I use the exact amounts, I stick as close as I can to the ingredients (2 medium sized bell peppers for example. Vague, but medium is medium right?). Regardless, my calorie totals are miles beyond what the recipe gives. Does anyone have any idea how come the original recipes are so much lower? Could it truly all be down to localised ingredients? I dont add any fats, and I always make sure that I take low-fat, high protein stuff where possible.
