[Parent post: "would you pay $13,000 for blinds?"] I just got a quote for blinds purchase + installation. I am looking to get roman shades for 9 windows in my house, this comes out to over $1,000 per window. Is this reasonable?? It feels a bit pricey to me. What is a normal price for something like this? How much is the installation worth? --- Roman shades can get crazy expensive if you want high-quality ones that will last a long time. Window size, build quality, and fabric quality can also significantly increase the price, but $1,000/window is a lot. Maybe that also includes installation for each window? The best fabrics for Roman shades are linen and cotton (or a blend of both) because they fold easily. Many online shops blend in polyester or acrylic, which are cheaper but can look plastic-y and don't fold or drape as well. You want fabric within a GSM (grams per square meter) of between 160-200. Under that is super lightweight and won't fold well. Over that is much heavier, but good for drapes. I got my Roman shades online from Barn & Willow [https://barnandwillow.com](https://barnandwillow.com). Really high-quality fabrics and hardware, and good customer support. My windows are not all the same size, and they helped me make sure I had all the measurements correct. Here's a general cost per window: 1. For the regular windows (\~24x48) I got Belgian Flax Linen, a privacy liner, and an inside mount with a continuous chain control. Each of them was around $250-$300. 2. For my large sunroom windows (\~36x72) with the same configuration, each window was around $740-$770. I could have massively cut down on the total cost by getting the sunroom shades from Lowe's, or a cheaper online site, but I decided to just go for it because I liked the Barn & Willow ones a lot. I installed them myself, so that saved a bunch of money. It's definitely something you can do yourself. Oh, and get samples!
