[Parent post: "Energy usage excessive"] I’ll keep it short and sweet. I need ideas. I cannot get my energy usage down. It’s always been high but now I’m tired of it and with how expensive electric has gotten it’s getting overwhelming. I have gas water heater, furnace, stove, and dryer. Two window units, like 1500 sq ft house. But there is no trend that I can find. I’m averaging 1300-1700 kWh a month. Any help is appreciated. --- Used to manage apartments for college kids, cap on electrical and they paid anything over the allowed cap. The number one cause for overages was the dryer and not cleaning the lint trap or removing the lint trap all together. They would clog the trap or the exhaust lines to the point the dryer would run for hours on end per load. I would start with that. Sump? Well? Irrigation Pump? That consumption rate is higher than mine in FL with a pool, koi pond, and larger home. There has to be something really consuming power to hit those levels. You may also find that the issue is efficiency of the home. Single pane windows, not enough insulation, gaps around doors, etc. All that AC and heat literally out the door/windows if they are old.

Summary
The commenter mentions windows as a possible efficiency issue, but only as a general observation rather than a sign of active replacement-window shopping.
Reasoning
The comment is mainly troubleshooting high energy usage and lists several possible causes, including single-pane windows, insulation, and door gaps. There is no indication of personal plans to replace windows, request for quotes, pricing questions, or company/location interest, so this reads as low-intent research at best.
Extracted Signals
- Mentions single pane windows as a possible cause of energy loss
- References general home efficiency issues like insulation and door gaps
- No explicit buying intent, quote request, or replacement plan
