Big Box on My Roof

new

Post

One company uses Goodman. The other a subsidiary of Carrier. The third, Trane. All three are a big box that sits on my roof and, hopefully, blows cool air into my house. Everything else equal, how much real difference is there between them? Or does the company, their competence, and their customer service matter more than anything else? In these quotes I get for replacement systems, everyone is kind of cagey about the exact details of the big box. Before I start spending a bunch of time calling people back about the exact serial numbers of the units they're going to use, is it going to make a real difference in the end? High Desert (hot summers, cold winters, low humidity year round) A complete, slightly oversized solar system (as much as possible within California's guidelines), so I'm a little insensitive to energy usage anyway My quotes are all ranging from $14k to $18K, which doesn't seem to me to be huge, when considered over 15 years. But if the efficiency of the system is a big swing? Or I'll have to spend a bunch of money in 10 when the warranty runs out? Well, then.
