One company uses Goodman. The other a subsidiary of Carrier. The third, Trane. All three are a big box that sits on my roof and, hopefully, blows cool air into my house. Everything else equal, how much real difference is there between them? Or does the company, their competence, and their customer service matter more than anything else? In these quotes I get for replacement systems, everyone is kind of cagey about the exact details of the big box. Before I start spending a bunch of time calling people back about the exact serial numbers of the units they're going to use, is it going to make a real difference in the end?
